GOT QUESTIONS? WE'VE GOT ANSWERS!
Over 50 feet (15.24 m) of 15 lb test monofilament line comes wound on the spool and ready to fish. When it wears or gets cut back, you respool it with line of your choice.
Small fish. Fifteen pound test on a handline is suited to panfish, trout, perch and similar, which is what the included hooks and split shot are sized for. It is not a substitute for a rod and reel when you are targeting anything with real size and a run in it.
The compartment is sealed with an o-ring, which keeps damp out of stored hooks, split shot and floats. That matters most for a kit that sits in a pack or a vehicle for years, where loose tackle in a plastic bag corrodes. It is not sold as a submersible dry box, so treat it as sealed against weather rather than rated for immersion.
Yes. Licence requirements and tackle rules apply to a handline exactly as they do to a rod, and some waters also restrict lead tackle. Carrying the kit in a survival bag does not change the regulations, so check the rules where you intend to fish.
The xREEL is a purpose-built fishing kit: a spool of monofilament plus hooks, split shot and floats in a sealed compartment. The ripSPOOL is a field repair kit with 60 feet of 30 lb braided line, repair tape and a sail needle, where the line can be improvised for fishing but no tackle is included. Many people carry both because they cover different jobs.
