The Skwok: Our Handmade Skillet Wok w/ Utility Bag

The Skwok is our handmade 17-inch carbon steel skillet wok, a skottle-style camp pan big enough to feed 6-10 hungry campers. Steaks, stir fry, breakfast for the whole river crew, soup: it does all of it on your LavaBox, a camp stove or your kitchen range.

Why it works

  • Big cooking surface: about 17 inches across
  • Carbon steel: heats fast and builds a natural non-stick seasoning, just like cast iron
  • Insanely tough: a pan you pass down to your grandkids
  • Comes with a utility bag with a tool pocket for your spatula, fork, rag and that travel-size bottle you picked up in Utah

Seasoning your Skwok (do this before the first cook)

  1. Scrub with hot soapy water and dry completely.
  2. Heat at medium and add 2/3 cup oil.
  3. Add 1/4 cup kosher salt and the peels of two large russet potatoes.
  4. Stir for 6 minutes, then discard and wipe the pan top and bottom.
  5. Never use soap again. Clean with hot water and a scrubber.
