The Lion Energy Battery Heater is a 13 by 3 inch, 12V heating pad that keeps a lithium battery warm enough to charge safely in cold weather. It switches on at about 42°F and off at about 68°F, draws 0.57A while heating and about 10mA on standby, and mounts through 6 mm eyelets, which suits RV, van, cabin and solar battery banks.
Maintain peak battery performance in cold climates with the Lion Energy Battery Warmer. This 12V pad helps protect lithium batteries from freezing temperatures, ensuring reliable power when you need it most—perfect for off-grid, RV, or emergency backup systems.
Key Features & Benefits:
-
Protects Against Freezing Temps – Keeps lithium batteries above freezing for safe charging and consistent output.
-
12V Powered Heating Pad – Activates automatically in cold conditions, drawing minimal energy.
-
DIY-Friendly Install – Slim 13 x 3 x 0.2 in. design with 6mm inner diameter eyelets for simple mounting.
-
Optimized for Lithium – Designed to support batteries like the Safari UT in winter environments.
-
Off-Grid & Mobile Ready – Ideal for RVs, vans, cabins, and solar backup systems exposed to cold weather.
Winter Usage Tips:
-
Lithium batteries outperform lead-acid in most weather, but must be above 32°F to charge safely.
-
Batteries can discharge down to -4°F, but charging below freezing can cause damage.
-
For best results, use batteries in climate-controlled or insulated areas—inside your RV or cabin, not exposed compartments.
-
A battery warmer or heating pad like this one helps maintain safe charging temps when outdoor conditions drop.
-
Avoid mounting batteries on open trailer tongues or ventilated lead-acid compartments where cold air circulates freely.
Keep your lithium batteries healthy and your solar system reliable all winter long with this essential cold-weather accessory.
All batteries must be above freezing to charge safely. This lithium battery heating system keeps your batteries ready for cold-weather use, activating at 42°F (±5°) and shutting off at 68°F (±5°) while only drawing just 0.57A for heating and only 10.13mA on standby.

- Eyelet inner diameter: 6 mm.
What It Costs Your Battery to Run It
At 12V, 0.57A works out to about 6.8W while the pad is heating. Running flat out for a full day would use roughly 164Wh, and on standby it uses under 3Wh a day, so the real cost depends on how cold it gets and how well the battery is insulated. That is the point to plan around: A 7W pad slows a battery’s cooling, it does not warm an exposed battery in deep cold, so fit it inside an insulated box or compartment. Fit it in autumn, before anything goes wrong in the first cold snap. Batteries and charging gear are in our backup power range.
