Genovese basil is an ideal pesto basil, with large tender dark green leaves with lots of flavor and aroma.

Peppermint can thrive really well in a container garden, because the pot can keep it from spreading and taking over your garden. Add the fresh flavor to your favorite dishes, desserts, and drinks for a cool refreshing change of pace. 

Sage is one of the essential elements in any herb garden. Its dusty leaves have a distinctive flavor and scent that is used with meats, vegetables, and many savory dishes.

Common chives are a culinary herb with a variety of uses. They are a member of the allium family that also includes garlic, leeks and onions. Their mild flavor is reminiscent of these, without being overpowering. The purple flowers attract bees while being less attractive to other insects due to the sulfur content of their leaves.

Cilantro is a perfect herb seed for your garden. Performs best in cooler weather, as hot weather can cause it to become feathery and tasteless. In the summer months, plant some containers indoors for year-round fresh flavor in your salsa and stir-fries.
