Detection limits: Alerts depend on supported wireless signatures, signal conditions and installed firmware. The device cannot detect every target; no alert does not prove that an area is free of surveillance or tracking equipment.

This is a passive awareness and research tool only. It does not jam, disable, bypass, interfere with, authenticate to, or connect to Flock Safety cameras or any other networked device.
Flock is rapidly changing their firmware and hardware — this won't detect every Flock camera; our firmware updates regularly with new signatures.
The firmware is based on open-source FlockYou research and tooling from Colonel Panic and a fork of the public colonelpanichacks/flock-you GitHub project called flock-you-esp32 by SimeonOnSecurity.

Hardware Details
This unit is based on the M5Stack Atom Echo ESP32 IoT Development Kit, featuring:

How to Use
Plug the detector into a USB-C power source such as a wall adapter, power bank, laptop, or vehicle USB adapter. Once powered on, the device plays a short boot melody and sweeps a rainbow through the LED to confirm startup, then settles to solid green — indicating it is actively scanning.
When a suspected Flock Safety camera signature is detected, the LED flashes red and the speaker plays two ascending chirps. If that suspected device stays nearby, a quiet heartbeat beep sounds roughly every 10 seconds so you always know something is still in range — even if the LED isn't in direct view.
For best results:
- Place the device where it has a clear view of nearby wireless signals
- Avoid burying it inside metal enclosures, glove boxes, or heavily shielded areas
- Use it while walking, driving, or surveying an area where ALPR or surveillance camera presence is being researched
- Treat detections as indicators, not absolute proof
- Confirm findings with additional research, public records, visual observation, or mapping tools where appropriate
Detection range and reliability can vary based on distance, antenna orientation, building materials, vehicle placement, local WiFi congestion, and how the nearby camera hardware is configured.
Using with the FlockYou Dashboard / App
The device can also be used with the FlockYou dashboard where supported by the installed firmware configuration.
To use it with the dashboard:
- Connect the device to a computer using USB-C.
- Install the FlockYou dashboard requirements from the public GitHub project.
- Launch the dashboard software from the api folder.
- Open the local dashboard in your browser.
- Select the serial port for the connected device.
- Detections appear live in the dashboard when the device observes matching WiFi signatures.

The FlockYou Pro passively listens for 2.4 GHz WiFi frames, so detection distance depends on your distance from the camera, antenna orientation, building materials, where the device sits in your vehicle, local WiFi congestion, and how the camera hardware itself is configured. Treat every detection as an indicator worth confirming, not as a measured distance.
No. The FlockYou Pro is a receive-only device. It does not jam, disable, bypass, interfere with, authenticate to, or connect to Flock Safety cameras or any other networked device. It only observes wireless signatures that are already being broadcast nearby and alerts you with an LED flash and an audible chirp.
No. Plug it into any USB-C power source and it works standalone. The RGB LED and the onboard speaker handle all alerting, so you do not need a screen, a phone app, a laptop, a cloud account, a subscription, or an internet connection. An optional dashboard is available over USB-C if you want to log detections on a computer.
Yes, false positives are possible. Detection works from known public WiFi OUI signatures and probe behavior documented in open-source research, so unrelated hardware can occasionally match, and a firmware or hardware change on the camera side can reduce accuracy until the detection firmware is updated. This is why the device is sold as an awareness and research tool rather than a guaranteed detector.
The FlockYou Pro is a passive receiver. It does not transmit, jam, or connect to anything, which is the distinction that matters in most jurisdictions. That said, laws on wireless monitoring and public-space research vary by state and locality, and we cannot give legal advice.
