Growing tips

🌱Start seeds indoors 12 to 14 weeks before last frost, or direct sow in spring. Transplant seedlings outdoors after all frost danger has passed into a permanent, well-prepared bed.
⏳Patience pays off — do not harvest spears the first 2 years. Let the plant establish a strong root system. By year 3 you’ll enjoy harvests that last 6 to 8 weeks every spring.
💧Plant in deep, well-drained soil with plenty of compost. Asparagus roots go deep — prepare beds to at least 12" and feed with a balanced fertilizer each spring.
🍽️Snap or cut spears at ground level when 6 to 8" tall. Roast with olive oil and sea salt, grill with lemon, or shave raw into spring salads for a fresh, grassy crunch.
