24V DC Mini Split Heat Pump Solar Air Conditioner

Mini Split runs directly off of 2 lead acid batteries or 8 LiFePO4 cells, providing the highest efficiency attainable for heating and cooling with no inverters. Perfect for any small 24 Volt off-grid or mobile system.

You need a 24V battery to operate these units, running them directly on solar without a battery will not work and can damage the units. The battery doesn't have to be large if you don't need to run the unit through the night. Call, message or email us with a description of your current electrical setup and how much are you looking to cool, and we will help you calculate the lowest cost to run the air conditioning or heating for as long as you want each day off your solar or wind power, off the grid. (877) 224-2777 help figure out what you need, any time.

Portable units: best for cooling small enclosed spaces. Plug into your DC power supply and you're cooling (or heating). Larger mini splits are available in 48V Pure DC up to 3 tons capacity.

Window units: best for windows and similar wall holes. Great for replacing old units with a 100% solar rig.

Mini splits: best for permanent structures. Allows for most discrete installs. Requires vacuuming refrigerant lines and checking R134a pressure. Available in 48V in 1 ton (12,000 BTU/h), 2 ton (24,000 BTU/h), and 3 ton (36,000 BTU/h) cooling capacities.

GOT QUESTIONS? WE'VE GOT ANSWERS!

A 24V bank: Two 12V lead acid batteries in series, or an 8-cell LiFePO4 pack. It does not have to be large if you only run the unit while the sun is up. As a reference, a 24V 100Ah LiFePO4 pack holds about 2.56 kWh, enough to run the 9,000 BTU/h model for roughly five hours at full draw, and longer once the compressor slows at temperature.

Up to 12,000 BTU/h both draw the same power, but the 24V version pulls twice the current, so it needs heavier cables. Choose 24V if your system already runs at 24V; it also lists for less at every size. Choose 48V for a new build, for anything above 12,000 BTU/h, or for a multi-zone setup.

No. Running the unit on solar without a 24V battery in the circuit will not work and can damage it. The battery smooths the supply and carries the load when clouds pass or the sun goes down, and the longer you want to run after dark, the bigger it needs to be.

If you are comfortable with HVAC work. The refrigerant lines between the indoor and outdoor units have to be vacuumed and the R134a pressure checked, which takes a vacuum pump and gauges. Without them, a local HVAC technician can do that part, and some local codes require one. The DC wiring itself is a positive and a negative cable sized for the current.

Yes. It is designed for small 24V off-grid and mobile systems, and the 6,000 BTU/h unit draws the least, about 350W. You need room to mount the outdoor unit securely and to route the refrigerant lines, and your battery and wiring need to handle roughly 15A to 31A depending on the model.
